Butterflies & Rainbows

I would love to write about butterflies and rainbows,

Of the colourful things

Your heart yearns for.

A world your innocent eyes build;

Where not an ounce of darkness creeps in.

A world; filled with laughter

Of happiness that echoes contagiously,

Where each child need not look over their shoulder

But only ahead, as their dreams begin.

A place where kindness dwells,

Where at each step a helping hand outstretched.

Where you could stumble and fall

With assurance of not being mocked

But, with gratitude of lessons learnt

You take help to steady yourself on.

As you walk along time

Finding a rhythm your heart sets,

With no hurry to finish the race

You halt, when your heart desires

A quick chat with the buzzing bees

Or the beautiful birds

Perched on a tree.

Your feet dancing to their music

For in this, you find glee.

Your soul melts with warmth

As they welcome you along

Strewing blossoms forth, the path

You take home

Your heart filled with joy

Like when you’ve seen a rainbow

But is this the world we live in ?

Or a figment of my imagination ?

Beyond Repair

She fled her house as tears burst out,

And stumbled upon a limpid bridge;

So pellucid, that it appeared not to exist.

A step further she hesitated,

Fear looming within her chest,

For at the other end, was Repair.

Oh, how her heart yearned not to be in pieces?

But, long was the bridge;

that clearly appeared not to exist.

The courage; she willed her heart to muster,

Only to feel it, slip away

Beneath her feet
